Creation for the Sake of Creation

Imago Dei is the idea that God created people in his image. Initially, this may be interpreted as a demonstration of the power of bipedalism matched with opposable thumbs, but that’s a very shallow view. What makes people “the image of God” lies not in any physical, mental, or emotional resemblance, but in something else entirely: our ability to create on a grand scale.

The sense of awe you get staring down a 6000 foot cliff at the edge of the Grand Canyon or on a beach staring across the seemingly endless Pacific Ocean is a more grand version of the awe you get seeing 70 tons of flaming metal take off into the sky or humanity's first steps outside the planet we call home. I firmly believe that the most impactful thing a person can do with their time here on Earth is create something. The second most impactful thing a person can do with their time here on Earth is help others create.

TL;DR

Create.
